From the Coach

The Bison track and field program has a rich history of success over the past 60+ years. Our philosophy is founded on a commitment to guide and support student-athletes in both their academic and sport lives. The university track and field experience should be one of accomplishments, personal growth, success in the classroom, and building a foundation of friendships and confidence. The Bison track and field staff is dedicated to these ends.

The U of M coaching staff, athletic department, and athletic support services are committed to giving each Bison athlete the best opportunity to develop themselves to their maximum potential. The staff at the University of Manitoba believes that it is a privilege to become part of the University of Manitoba track & field “TEAM”. We welcome all athletes who strive to reach their potential and coaches who believe in developing high performing athletes.

Our program provides our athletes with world class training/competition facilities. Each athlete receives an individualized training plan from our coaching staff, many of whom are recognized as some of Canada’s top coaches. We have a very good support system is in place, particularly in the areas of athletic therapy, strength and conditioning, and academic and financial support. We have an extensive competition schedule, where we compete against many Canadian and American based schools.

The University of Manitoba also has an affiliation with Collège Universitaire de St-Boniface, the only French University in Western Canada, if you would like to pursue your studies in French while competing for the Bisons.
