Having won numerous OUA and U Sports national titles on both the men's and women's sides in track and field and XC, the University of Guelph Gryphons are a force in Canadian university athletics. At the 2019 U Sports Indoor Track & Field Championships, the Gryphons swept the men's and women's national championship banners for a second consecutive year.
